Wyndham small businesses will be put in the spotlight next week.

The inaugural Wyndham Small Business Expo on Friday, September 8 will showcase businesses as diverse as technology, creative arts, media, food and trades.

The event – organised by Chris Alleyn and Will Johnson of CW Events – will also feature a panel of business owners talking about their successes and challenges they face. The expo’s keynote speaker will be Jason Cunningham from Channel Ten show The Living Room.

Mr Alleyn said the day was open to all community members, including those looking for a small business to do some work for them and people interested in starting a business.

Karen Kennedy, from Bookit Bookkeeping in Point Cook, said her business would have a stall at the expo. She said many people did not realise how many small businesses were in Wyndham.

“I say that whatever you need, you can find it in Wyndham – you don’t have to leave the area to get it,” she said.

The director of The Social Secret, Maree Sortino, will run a social media workshop at the expo in which she will detail the top 10 things every business owner needs in order to have a strong content strategy.

Ms Sortino said that she had found networking to be “pivotal” to the success of her business and that there would be plenty of opportunities for business owners to meet each other at the expo.

The expo will run from 9am-2pm on Friday, September 8, at Encore Events Centre in Hoppers Crossing. Admission is free for attendees. There are “very limited” spots left for businesses to host a stall.
