A $3.8 million redevelopment of the Galvin Park Soccer Pavilion in Werribee reached a key milestone last week.

A new pavilion, which is being built as part of the Wyndham council project, has been completed, while the second new pavilion is track for completion in the coming months.

The two new pavilions will feature a community room, six new change rooms, a large kitchen and canteen, public toilets and facilities for officials.

Wyndham’s active city portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard, said the redevelopment was the fifth stage in a roll-out of the reserve’s masterplan which has also included a $2 million tennis pavilion and $1.7 million oval.

“As our population continues to grow at a rapid rate, it’s important that our community facilities keep pace,” Cr Maynard said.

“This latest redevelopment will transform Galvin Park into a state-of-the-art sporting hub and will help boost participation in sport.

“Once complete, the new soccer pavilions will service four soccer pitches and provide a brand new home for the Werribee City Soccer Club.

“It will also support the many community groups and schools that use this space and will be fully compliant for disability access.”

The redevelopment of the Galvin Park Soccer Pavilion has been jointly funded by Wyndham council, which has invested $2.8 million, and the state government, which has contributed $1 million.
