Gallop into equestrian events

A calendar of events is slated to take place at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre next year.

The action will kick off on January 2 with a Dressage Victoria Young Rider Squad protocol day.

On January 15 to 16, the Ballarat & Western District Quarter Horse Association host an ‘A’ Class Summer Show.

Show Horse Victoria will also hold a Summer Show across the same two days.

On January 18 and 19, Jumping Victoria will host a Young Rider Squad event.

The Australian Pony Stud Book Society, the oldest stud book society for ponies in Australia that records the pedigrees of 10 pure pony breeds, will hold a three-day show from January 21 to 23.

The popular National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival will be on at the equestrian centre across January 22 and 23.

The annual festival is one of the largest displays of heavy horses in Australia, featuring commentary, demonstrations, trade and market stalls.

Heavy breeds such as Clydesdale, Shire, Percheron, Suffolk Punch, Gypsy Cob, Drum Horse, Friesian, Highland Pony, Fjord and Haflinger will be on show.

Classes on offer will include as led stud stock heavy breeds, heavy harness, working draft, long reining/obstacle course, ridden heavy horse, rider classes and an unofficial heavy horse dressage competition.

As well, on January 22 and 23, the Victorian Pinto Society State Championships will be held.

The Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre is the largest facility of its kind in Victoria, with two large indoor arenas, multiple outdoor arenas, general purpose and polo fields, 180 stables, 370 day yards, 250 campsites, administration buildings and an international-level cross country course.
