Fundraising on the dance floor

Six weeks of intensive training and fundraising will culminate this Friday night when seven Wyndham locals strut their stuff at the annual Werribee Mazda Dance Stars on the Floor at the Wyndham Cultural Centre.

Accompanied by professional dance partners, the seven stars: Aaron Sellick, John Dabley, Leah Coates, Debasee Das, Joyce Shiroh, Roksana Armani and Majak Duwar, will perform two routines each before a three person judging panel.

The contestants have been training under the direction of Kym Smith and Shane Hocking at Essendon’s renowned DanceWorks Studio as well as fundraising for the event’s two causes, Wyndham Health Foundation and literacy charity, Story Dogs.

They’ll be vying for the titles of best dancer and best fundraiser at the event which will be compared by former dancer and star of Channel 10’s Morning Show, Tristan McManus.

Organiser and Wyndham councillor Heather Marcus said Dance Stars on the Floor is one of the highlights of the municipality’s social calendar.

“It is a lively, exciting and a fun show and last year people told us it was the best show to come to Wyndham.”

Tickets are still available and all proceeds go to Wyndham Health Foundation and Story Dogs.
