Wyndham council will host the first Mayoral Fun Run to raise money for charity this October.

Residents can choose between a 5, 10, or 21 kilometre walk or run, will receive a unique medal for their participation and a colour coded wrist band to identify the distance selected.

“With over 100 people already registered it is going to be a fantastic day,” mayor Peter Maynard said.

“So bring the family along to be part of a fun day, with free coffee and a visit from the Youth Services Street Surfer Bus to engage young people.”

The cost of participation is $35 for the 21km run, $25 for 10km and $15 for 5km, and children under 10 enter for free.

All proceeds will be used to support the Black Dog Institute, a not for profit facility for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mood disorders such as anxiety, depressions and bipolar disorder.

Food will be available for purchase on the day, prepared by the Werribee Softball Association.

The Mayoral Fun Run will be held on Sunday October 16, from 8am to noon starting at Gate 3, President’s Park, Wyndham Vale.

A detailed map of the fun run is available on the council website.
