A frog-themed park being constructed in Point Cook is set to make a happy splash with future residents.

Leapfrog Park – to be unveiled later this year – will be built within a new estate called Life, Point Cook, which is located near Saltwater Promenade and Point Cook Road.

The Frasers Property Australia development, of about 550 houses, will include 9.9 hectares of parks and open space, including the Leapfrog Park. The park will feature a 2.6-metre high frog-shaped cubby house, froglet steppers, tadpole rockers, sound tubes and climbing ropes.

The park, designed by Big Fish in Footscray, will also cater for children on the autism spectrum through sensory totem poles they can run their hands along, and there will be a basket swing.

Big Fish director designer Renata Slusarski said that with technology becoming a bigger part of children’s lives, it was important to get youngsters excited about visiting playgrounds.

“There will be a lot of things to stimulate them in this park, like a leapfrog game where kids can see how far they can jump,” she said.

Ms Slusarski said educational elements would include stepping stones showing development of a tadpole to a frog and interpretive signage to teach children about frog’s lives.
