Free activities this Summer

The state has announced a series of free family events across Victoria this summer, offering wildlife interactions, gallery exhibitions, and outdoor experiences.

Entry to the Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary, and Kyabram Fauna Park will be free for children aged under 16.

Acting Environment Minister Ros Spence said that these holidays are the perfect time to take your kids to the zoo for free and help them to “connect with wildlife and learn about conservation, while creating lasting memories with their friends and families.”

For those ready to explore the bush, free camping is available at every national park and in state forests, offering opportunities for swimming, hiking, and fishing.

NGV Kids on Tour will launch its largest-ever program, with free workshops and activities at 150 venues in the state, including galleries, libraries, community hubs, and hospitals.

The NGV Kids Summer Festival will be held until January 17 at Fed Square and offers a huge schedule of free events for families, led by Victorian artists and creatives.

At NGV International, art-making activities throughout the festival will be inspired by the bright polka-dotted work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

An interactive children’s exhibition called Kusama for Kids: The Obliteration Room will present plenty of colourful artworks on the ground floor of the gallery until April 21.
