Tens of thousands of people flocked to Williams Landing over the weekend for pretzels, gourmet burgers and tacos galore.

The Landing’s shopping centre carpark was transformed into foodie heaven between Thursday and Sunday for the inaugural Point Cook-Williams Landing Food Truck Festival.

Event organiser Danny Grant said almost 40,000 people grabbed a bite to eat at one of the 30 trucks that parked over the four days.

Among the most popular trucks were El Chivi, from which Uruguayan steak sandwiches were served, and Filipino street food van Thrilla in Manila.

“We thought it was a great success,” Mr Grant said.

“We were pretty stoked with the number of people who came and chuffed about the feedback, which was pretty positive.

“The reason we come out to these areas is to give people an opportunity that those in the inner city get but the outer suburbs don’t, and that sort of paid off.”

Festival-goers also got to enjoy carnival rides and face-painting.

Mr Grant, who will be hosting the food truck festival in other Melboune locations – including Craigieburn, Berwick and Doncaster – said he was keen to return to Williams Landing next year.
