IN FOCUS: Tarneit’s centre of medical excellence

Supernova Medical Centre is a purpose-built facility in Tarneit, providing bulk billing to valid Medicare card holders, TAC and WorkCover patients and overseas visitors.

Dr Afzal Khan has more than 14 years’ experience and has a particular interest in children’s health, skin conditions and respiratory medicine.

“There are no waiting times at Supernova Medical Centre, nor are appointments necessary, but appointments are available for those wanting to make one,” explains Dr Khan, who has worked for many years in Wyndham Vale.

“We also provide pathology services during our opening times, and are connected to next-door Radiology Imaging Solutions for X-rays, ultrasounds and CTs – the results of which we have immediately electronically transferred.”

Another team member, Dr Humera Rasool, has 12 years’ experience in women’s health, chronic disease management and family-planning.

Dr Abid Mushtaq, who comes on board next month, has loads of experience in orthopedics, while Dr Elena Litovski has a special interest in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Ancillary services include physiotherapy, podiatry and diabetes education, while Claudina Garcia consults as a psychologist and Monash University graduate Erin Russell as a dietitian.

The wide spectrum of other services provided covers areas such as emergency care, stitches, childhood and travel vaccinations, plaster application and removal and skin lesion removal.

Pre-employment and driver’s licence medical checks are also conducted at the centre for an affordable fee.

“Full-body skin cancer checks, ECGs and Holter monitors, appointments, iron fusions and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring are also available, free of charge.

Dr Khan says Supernova’s focus is to create a healthy community with early diagnosis and health management.

“The staff at Supernova Medical Centre look forward to assisting you with all aspects and management of your health,” he says.

Supernova Medical Centre, 14 Lavinia Drive, Tarneit.

Opens 8.30am-9pm daily.
