Tarneit North residents will soon have access to on demand public transport following the launch of a new FlexiRide bus service connecting locals to schools, shops and other transport options.
Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly said the service will provide many Tarneit North locals access to a bus for the first time.
FlexiRide services do not have a fixed route, with passengers able to book a seat via the designated FlexiRide app or over the phone, where they will then be directed to their closest bus stop to be picked up and transported to dedicated bus hubs.
“This new and affordable on-demand transport option will give this vibrant and growing community more options and allow them to leave the car at home,” Ms Connolly said.
Residents can book a ride on a FlexiRide bus on the FlexiRide app or by calling 1300 209 425, and payment can be made using a myki card.
“Simply through an app or a phone call, people can book their seat and be directed to their nearest stop, making transport easier than ever,” Ms Connolly said.
New FlexiRide buses now service six bus hubs around Tarneit, including Tarneit Station, Tarneit Central Shopping Centre, and four schools.
Passengers can also change to trains and other bus services via the hub at Tarneit Station.
FlexiRide Tarneit North operates between 6am and 9.30pm weekdays, between 7am and 9.30pm Saturdays and public holidays and between 8am and 9.30pm on Sundays, Good Friday and Christmas Day.
The service commenced by the state government on October 23.
