The search for Victoria’s Biggest Little Smile is on as Dental Health Services Victoria and Zoos Victoria team up to fight oral disease in children.

The competition, which encourages children to eat well, cut down on soft drinks and brush their teeth twice a day, calls on parents to send in photos of their children demonstrating healthy habits for healthy teeth.

A team of young ones headed down to Werribee Zoo yesterday to watch hippos Tulip and Lotus have their teeth brushed.

Deborah Cole from Dental Health Services Victoria said the partnership between DHSV and Zoos Victoria was about learning new ways to engage families so that poor oral health does not become a significant issue in the family.

Werribee Open Range Zoo Hippo Keepe Ross Taylor added: “Like us, hippos need to take good care of their teeth so it is great that we can partner with Dental Health Services Victoria to share this message with our visitors.”
