If you have a burning question for the Truganina Fire Brigade, their community open day is the perfect opportunity to fire away.
Members of the brigade will work alongside emergency responders, and run scenarios and demonstrations, activities for kids, and refreshments on Sunday, October 23.
Brigade community safety coordinator & multicultural liaison Michele Abbott said the community would be able to see how the various groups worked together.
“Our relationship with the community is vital, so that they learn we are there to help, especially when quite often when they first meet us it is in an emergency situation,” Ms Abbott said.
“Getting to know us in a more relaxed environment on an open day or other community event can help to build that trust.”
The Truganina Brigade comprises of volunteer members, who will discuss with residents the importance of fire safety.
“Ambulance Vic personnel will be teaching attendees how to perform CPR, St John members will be demonstrating some basic first aid and our VicPol members will be talking about community safety,” Ms Abbott said.
“SES [will talk] about being safe during storm events, DELWP [Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning], Parks Vic and Wyndham council will be on hand to discuss controlled burns and also general burning restrictions in Wyndham.”
A raffle and bbq will also be available at the event, which will take place at the Truganina Fire Brigade from 10am-3pm.
