New estate to make a splash

An Australian-first, residents-only indoor water park will be built at one of Wyndham’s newest estates.

Wyndham council has approved plans for Club Jubilee One, which will be exclusive to residents at Wyndham Vale’s Jubilee estate and will include water slides, a leisure pool, 25-metre lap pool and junior fun zone with water sprays and water cannons.

Project director Daniel Smith said early works on the water park would start this year, with the centre slated to open in the first quarter of 2018.

Mr Smith said the development would cost between $8 million and $10 million.

“It’s more common now to have private facilities supplementing the public facilities in many estates around Melbourne,” he said.

“One of the things we identified very early with many of those facilities is that they’re aimed at adults – it’s about a gymnasium, a social club, yoga – and what we wanted to do is become really family-focused and kid- focused.

“The demographics of Wyndham Vale and what we anticipate Jubilee to be is really young families.”

Mr Smith said the water park would be one of three resident-only facilities to be built in the estate in the next 15 years.

“We’re probably going to have a health and wellbeing-type facility and maybe some tennis courts or other sports facilities – those options are all on the table,” he said.

Titles for the first blocks of land in the Jubilee estate are expected to be ready by April this year.

The first residents are expected to move in before Christmas.
