‘Epic Clinic’ trial free for kids

The Auskick clinic will give kids a chance to trial the program before signing up.

Primary school aged children are being invited to attend a free AFL football clinic, hosted by Werribee Centrals Football and Auskick club.

Named the ‘Epic Clinic’ the session will take place at the Galvin Park ovals on Saturday, July 30, from 10-11.30am.

Auskick co-ordinator Emily Travers said attendance registrations are open to all eligible residents in Wyndham.

“[It’s] for anyone in the community to come give Auskick a go…basically they can try it out, run through different activities and if they like it, then sign up for the following year,” Ms Travers said.

“We just thought we’ll make it into a really fun, free activity for everyone to give it a go, and get out there.”

The event will be hosted by under-18 group and senior players, who will give participants an opportunity to experience an Auskick clinic.

“You learn AFL, you’ll get coordination skills…the normal stuff like kicking and handballing,” Ms Travers said.

“[But] you actually make lifelong friends, great friendships, out of Auskick…you get to know them on a regular basis and see them every week, and form relationships with people you wouldn’t normally see.”

Ms Travers said attendees can decide if they want to continue with Auskick and won’t be hassled to sign up.

“There will be a registration form that they can express interest if they’re thinking about signing up, and we will send an email out when registrations open for next year,” she said.
