Energy bonuses available

Concession card holders in Wyndham can apply for two rounds of the state government’s $250 power saving bonus over the next month.

Eligible concession card holders have about two weeks left to access the current Power Saving Bonus before they can apply for the new bonus payment from Friday, July 1.

Energy, Environment and Climate Change Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the new power saving bonus will be available to all Victorians due to the rising cost of living.

“We know the cost of living is going up, and we’re playing a role in supporting Victorians who are paying more for power than they should,” she said.

User data shows that seven out of 10 users can save money by switching energy offers, with typical annual savings of $330 in the first year of switching.

Combined with the two Power Saving Bonuses, Victorian households can be up to $830 better off.

Victorian households and businesses are also able to reduce their energy bill and usage thanks to the state government’s Victorian Energy Upgrades [VEU] program, which provides households and businesses with incentives to switch to energy efficient products.

Households are eligible for low-cost-to-free VEU products such as energy efficient lighting, door and window sealing, efficient hot water and heating systems, and in-home displays for real-time energy usage data.
