Eight teens arrested following Werribee affray

Police have charged eight youths following a serious affray, in which some participants were allegedly armed with machetes and knives, at a Werribee shopping centre carpark on January 6.

Investigators said told a group of males were allegedly observed at the carpark about 9.40pm.

Multiple people were allegedly seriously assaulted during the affray.

After a group of males allegedly fled the scene, three males – believed to have been involved with the affray – presented themselves to hospital with non-life-threatening puncture wounds and lacerations.

Victoria Police announced today (January 26) that officers from the Westgate Alliance Taskforce have charged four youths with a range of offences including violent disorder, affray, armed with criminal intent, theft and weapons offences.

A 19-year-old Hoppers Crossing man has been remanded to face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February, 1.

A 17-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy has been bailed to face court at a later date and two 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boys have been remanded to face court at a later date.

Police today executed further warrants in relation to the incident and arrested two additional males.

A 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy and an 18-year-old Point Cook man have been released pending further enquiries.
