Be a good egg this Easter and give blood.
That’s the message from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service as it tries to overcome an annual blood donation shortfall.
As part of the drive, the Werribee blood donor centre is hoping to get another 70 people through its doors this week to help patients in need.
Blood services spokesman Leigh Johnston said there was always a shortfall of blood donations this time each year because many people go away for the Easter long weekend.
He called on both existing and new donors to be egg-stra generous and give blood this Easter.
“One in three people will need blood in their lifetime, yet currently only one in 30 donates.
“Your lifesaving donation could help someone spend another Easter holiday with family and friends … and all it costs is an hour of your time.”
The Werribee blood donor centre is located at 7 Bridge Street, Werribee.
