A bus driver who found a pile of mail “dumped” on a Werribee street has sent the documents to a radio station.
Earlier this month, 3AW reported that a bus driver had sent in several letters he had found on Heaths Road, near River Run Drive.
The radio station said that the mail included letters from VicRoads about car registration, electricity bills, health insurance documents, credit card bills, a toll invoice and correspondence about tax.
Some of the mail had been opened, while some of the envelopes remained sealed.
The bus driver told 3AW he often saw dumped mail along Heaths Road in Werribee.
The driver said he had sent the mail to the radio station because he did not know what else to do with them.
Star Weekly understands Australia Post is investigating.
Wyndham Police Acting Inspector Peter Bitton said the theft of mail had been “an emerging issue of the past couple of years”.
“We have charged a number of offenders for stealing mail,” he said.
“We urge the public to collect mail daily and to provide a locked mail box for all postal deliveries.”
