Driver arrested after fatal crash in Truganina

Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal collision in Truganina on Thursday morning which a Hillside man fled the scene of.

Police have been told the male driver of a silver Holden SUV collided with another vehicle on Hopkins Road about 12.50am.

The impact of the collision forced the other vehicle to flip onto its side and catch fire.

The driver of that vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.

The driver of the Holden SUV, a 23-year-old Hillside man, fled the scene on foot.

He was apprehended by officers a short time later and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined.
