Drink driver charged

A woman who allegedly drove on the wrong side of the Princes Freeway, between Little River and Werribee last night, has been charged with drink driving.

Police said the woman drove about 18 kilometres on the wrong side of the freeway before she was intercepted near Duncans Road about 10.20pm.

Police received numerous calls from drivers on the freeway who narrowly avoided hitting the woman’s vehicle as she travelled towards them.

A 23-year-old Pakenham woman was conveyed to the Werribee Police Station where she was breath-tested. She recorded a 0.177 per cent blood alcohol reading and was charged with drink driving, conduct endangering life, dangerous driving and a number of other traffic offences.

The woman’s licence was suspended and her car was impounded for one month.

The woman was bailed to appear at the Werribee Magistrates’ Court on December 19.
