Wanted: new members for Werribee DrillDance Club

Do you have what it takes to be a drilldancer?

Werribee DrillDance Club is on the lookout for new members, young and old, to boost its ranks ahead of hosting the DrillDance Australian Championships in April 2019.

The group, which started out in 1953 as the Marching Girls, has evolved over the years to include dance, prop and drill-team routines as part of the repertoire and today includes about 40 members from kids to adults.

Club president Rhonda Wilson said the recruitment drive aimed to have all age groups from Werribee represented at the upcoming national titles.

“Our under 18 team came home with silver and bronze placings from our most recent championships in Tasmania and we are really looking forward to backing that up in our hometown this season,” she said.

“This sport cater for all age members, boys and girls alike. There are a few of our members who have three generations involved in the sport, myself included, so it really is a sport for the whole family.”

The group is having a come and try day this Saturday from 9am at Wyndham Vale Reserve, Honour Avenue. For more information, call Tennille on 0425 777 125 or go to the Werribee DrillDance Club Facebook page.
