A 68-year-old man has died in Werribee South during a scuba diving trip with his friends.
The man had been diving in waters off Beach Road about 1pm today when he was reported to be in distress, a police spokeswoman said.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene after the man had been pulled from the sea.
He could not be revived, however, and was declared dead at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and will prepare a report for the coroner on the man’s death.
