Two Werribee residents have been recognised for their work with Reclink Australia, including founder Peter Cullen.
Reclink aims to help disadvantaged people through sports and arts programs.
The not-for-profit organisation began when Mr Cullen, a former street outreach worker, organised a “kick-to-kick” of football between homeless and disadvantaged people in St Kilda.
Earlier this month, a gala dinner was held to celebrate Reclink’s 30th anniversary.
As part of proceedings, the life memberships were presented to Mr Cullen and also Reclink Australia director Theresa Sgambaro.
Ms Sgambaro is Reclink’s longest-standing serving director, outside of Mr Cullen, and has acted as the organisation’s treasurer for the majority of the past 17 years.
A statement issued by Reclink said that Mr Cullen’s dedication, passion, generosity and kindness across the last three decades “has never wavered”.
“To this day he is working as hard as ever to help those in the community who need it most through programs such as Sports Share,” the statement read.
Reclink’s finance and corporate services general manager, Phil Morley, also presented Ms Sgambaro with her life membership on the gala night.
“Theresa has a true passion for the financial viability and financial efficiency of Reclink and our programs,” Mr Morley said.
“Theresa cares deeply about the people in our community that struggle and need Reclink.
“Theresa will ask the challenging questions and engage in the robust discussion.
“Theresa’s work for Reclink is one of the reasons we are celebrating 30 years.”
