Thousands of people turned out for the Anzac Day dawn service at the Werribee cenotaph this morning, despite the rain.
Werribee RSL president Daryl Ryan read out the Anzac requiem, while dozens of people laid wreaths.
Following the event, many attendees visited the community centre next to the RSL for a free breakfast.
Mr Ryan said an Anzac march held on Sunday was also well-attended.
“It was the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen there, including the number of people who marched down Watton Street and those watching,” he said.
“There were so many school kids, scouts and guides, it’s great they’re being involved.
“There were also old fellows aged 96, 97, from the second World War, some Gurkhas, members of the Karen community from Burma, Vietnam war veterans and those from more recent conflicts.”
