Dancer takes to the stage

Point Cook dancer Hannah Bradsworth will star in a show being staged at the Arts Centre Melbourne this week.

Bradsworth, 30, is part of the cast of Song for a Weary Throat, which will be performed from October 10-14, as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival.

The production has been put together by Rawcus, an ensemble of performers with and without a disability.

Song for a Weary Throat is set in an abandoned dance hall and explores emotions including heartbreak and hope.

“The show is about pushing boundaries and about how to reconnect with each other,” Bradsworth said.

“The audience will like the lights and sounds and set and the way we move.

“My favourite part of the show is the loneliness and kindness section, because I am looking for someone to dance with.

“My second favourite part of the show is building a forest out of the set pieces, it reminds me of good times in Rawcus.”

Bradsworth said she joined Rawcus six years ago and also does hip-hop dancing.

Song for a Weary Throat will be on at 7.30pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with additional shows at 2pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday, in the Fairfax Studio, Arts Centre Melbourne.

Tickets to the show cost between $39-$49, plus a booking fee. Book at www.artscentremelbourne.com.au or by calling 1300 182 183.
