Cool cats, delightful dogs, fantastic ferrets and beautiful birds were among the many creatures that took centre stage in Werribee at the weekend.

Hundreds of pet owners attended Wyndham council’s annual Pet and Animal Expo on Sunday.

Wyndham environment and sustainability portfolio holder Heather Marcus said the expo was one of the area’s most popular events.

Celebrity zoologist Chris Humfrey and the team from his Wild Action program were one of the main attractions at the event, along with the native Australian animals they brought along.

Dog obedience displays, agility demonstrations and farm animal displays were among the other expo features.

Also available were discounted council pet registration fees and micro-chipping and competitions to find the best pet trick, the best-dressed pet and the pet and owner who looked most alike.
