Crime continues to rise

Crime in Wyndham is getting worse each year according to the latest data from the Crime Statistics Agency (CSA).

A total of 25,090 offences were recorded in the 12 months to September 2025, a 17.9 per cent spike from the 21,278 offences booked in the same period the previous year.

Offences recorded have increased each year since 2022.

Werribee remained the top suburb for crime with a total of 5644 offences recorded, jumping up from 5528 in the year prior.

Tarneit took second place on the back of a significant surge in offences, rising from 3435 offences in 2024 to 4548 in 2025.

Hoppers Crossing was pushed to third place, where the number of offences climbed from 3575 in 2024 to 3920 in 2025.

Point Cook and Truganina rounded out the top five, both experiencing an increase in offences recorded.

Houses remained the most common place for crime to occur at by a large margin, with streets, laneways and footpaths, driveways, shopping centres and other retail premises rounding out the top five.

Stealing from a motor vehicle was the most common crime in the 12 month period, with the number of incidents steeply rising from 2966 to 3987.

Motor vehicle theft itself was also in the top five most committed offences, totalling at 1783 throughout the period.

Other, miscellaneous forms of theft remained the second most common offence subgroup, while stealing from retail stores entered the top five in 2025.

Despite a general increase in most crime categories, total family violence incidents recorded continued to decrease in Wyndham.

The total number of incidents dropped 7.9 per cent from 4365 in 2024 to 4022 in 2025.

Along with the total number of family violence incidents declining, the prevalence of these cases per 100,000 people in Wyndham fell while the state average increased.

However, the number of family violence orders being breached increased from 1836 to 2021 in a year.
