Fire Rescue Victoria responded to reports of smoke issuing from a house on Boundary Road, Tarneit on Saturday, July 2.
Crews arrived on scene at 9.39pm to find the fire had already spread throughout the home and caused a partial collapse of the roof of the single storey brick home.
The fire was declared under control at 10.32pm.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were unable to confirm if the home was occupied at the time due to areas affected by structural collapse.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
