COVID exposure sites identified

COVID-19 exposure sites have been identified in Epping, Altona North and Melbourne CBD after a Wollert man tested positive to the virus this morning.

Tier 1 exposure sites are the Melbourne CBD at Curry Vault Indian Restaurant and Bar between 6.30pm and 9.30pm on Friday, May 7; Epping at Indiagate Spices and Groceries between 5pm to 6pm on Saturday, May 8; Epping Woolworths, at the corner of Cooper and High streets between 5.40pm and 6.38pm Saturday, May 8; and Altona North at the TIC Group front office all day on Thursday, May 6.

If you have been to a tier 1 exposure site within the times listed, you are to immediately isolate, get tested, quarantine for 14 days, and contact the Department of Health coronavirus hotline.

Tier 2 exposure sites are in Altona North at the TIC Group rear warehouse section all day on Thursday, May 6; in Epping 7Eleven at 705 High Street between 6.30pm and 7pm on Thursday, May 6; and at the same 7Eleven site between 11.10am and 11.40am on Saturday, May 8.

If you have been to a tier 2 exposure site within the times listed, you need to immediately isolate, get tested, and remain isolated until a negative test result is received.

In an update this afternoon, Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton said he would not foreshadow any restrictions for the state.

“It’s an early encouraging sign that the close household contacts returned negative results,” he said.

Health Minister Martin Foley said: “This case is an important reminder that we are still in the grip of a global pandemic”.

“We can’t rule out any more positive cases.”

Mr Foley said tonight’s federal government budget was a “golden opportunity” for the government to approve and fund the proposed Mickleham quarantine hub.

“It’s a pretty good partnership model that will keep the community safe.”
