The Wyndham municipality has been named as an area of COVID-19 concern, along with Altona North and Newport, by authorities.

The state’s COVID-19 Response Commander Jeroen Weimar said today that 80 virus cases have been linked to an emerging cluster of cases in Altona North.

“It is a large scatter field of a number of exposure sites and a number of connection between the positive cases we are identifying in that area,” he said.

“We are reaching out to young people in their twenties and thirties in the Newport and Altona North area – people who are active, who are working, who may be contributing to the spread.

“If you have symptoms, get tested.

“If you have friends or family in this community, or you run a business here, help us get the word out.”
