Ratepayers have been slugged with a bill of more than $30,000 as Wyndham councillors claim costs of attending conferences, professional development sessions and travel.
A register of councillor expenses for the six months from May to October reveals former mayor Peter Maynard was the biggest spender.
Cr Maynard clocked up $6440 in costs, which included $136.36 for a breakfast with Werribee MP Tim Pallas.
They also included $154.55 to attend a local debutante ball, and $180.27 to attend the Western Chances Good Business Forum.
Next on the list was Cr Glenn Goodfellow, claiming $4038. A place at the National Local Roads and Transport Congress cost $809.09 (Cr Goodfellow is the transport portfolio holder) and $450 to attend the Bike Futures conference.
Cr Gautam Gupta claimed $3566, with his most expensive item being $904 for the International Cities, Town Centres and Communities Conference.
He also claimed $210 to travel to the conference in Wollongong.
Cr Bob Fairclough raked up a bill of $2936, including $481.82 to attend the Mercy Health Ball in July.
Current mayor Adele Hegedich’s bill totalled $2592, Cr Peter Gibbons $2067, Cr Heather Marcus $2342, and Cr Intaj Khan $2106.
Cr John Gibbons claimed $1695 in expenses, and Cr Marie Brittan claimed $1893.
Cr Michele Wharrie’s bill was $760.
