Residents satisfied with Wyndham council

Residents are increasingly satisfied with the decisions made by Wyndham council, recently released data reveals.

Know Your Council data, released by the state government, shows that 69 per cent of residents are satisfied with decisions made by the council in the 2015-16 financial year, up from 64 per cent the previous year.

When it comes to satisfaction with community consultation and engagement, 73 per cent of residents were happy, up from 69 per cent the previous year. The levels in both categories is higher than the western metropolitan averages.

Wyndham chief executive Kelly Grigsby said the council was very proud of the increased satisfaction, attributing the higher score to “a lot of hard work”.

“Council’s work advocating for Wyndham’s fair share of road and public transport funding has contributed significantly to resident’s satisfaction and has helped to secure major state government contributions to vital projects,” Ms Grigsby said.

“The construction of Eagle Stadium, the Tarneit Library, the Saltwater Community Centre, AquaPulse and council’s delivery of its 2015-16 budget, which included $101.9 million in capital works, have also contributed to this increased level of community satisfaction.”

She said the promotion of “active citizenship”, including listening posts, had helped improve satisfaction ratings with consultation and engagement.
