Police have criticised the actions of a motorcyclist who was allegedly detected travelling at double the speed limit in Point Cook on Saturday.

Westgate Highway Patrol’s Senior Constable Raj Gennie responded to a report of an erratic motorcycle rider, in the Point Cook Road area, around 9.45am.

Upon arriving at Point Cook Road, Senior Constable Gennie observed a motorcycle matching the description of the one given in the report. The motorcyclist was observed travelling at 120 kilometres per hour in a 60 kilometre zone.

Senior Constable Gennie ended catching up with the rider out the front of his home address.

The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old Point Cook man, will be charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kilometres per hour, speed dangerous, unlicenced driving (riding) and riding an unregistered vehicle.

The motorcycle was also impounded

When asked why he was riding in such a manner, the motorcyclist allegedly told police: “I was bored and I’m silly.”

Senior Constable Gennie said that if the rider had hit something while he was speeding, it would not have ended well.

“As for the rider, I don’t feel there would be much left of him if he struck something,” Senior Constable Gennie said.

“This is beyond silly. Even Evel Knievel would not tolerate this level of danger to the public.”
