Zumba and yoga for kids

Linda Rahal has fond memories of spending her childhood playing outside and riding bikes.

Today, she says, kids are too caught up in technology and rarely venture outdoors.

“We’re seeing more and more kids getting attached to their iPads and not exercising, so they get obese,” she said.

Ms Rahal became so frustrated with the situation, she launched Little Legs Fitness to encourage kids to get outside and discover that exercise can be fun.

Now she has decided to use the kids’ zumba and yoga classes she runs from Point Cook Community Centre to support sick kids.

The Family Fitness Fundraiser on April 2 is a charity event that seeks to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

“I love the hospital,” she said. “I’ve seen my nieces and nephews go through it and it just needs as much support as possible.”

Ms Rahal is inviting families to join in at the event and experience yoga and zumba together.

“It’s a lot of fun and entertaining. The kids really get into it,” she said.

The fundraiser will feature zumba, jiu jitsu, and yoga classes and there will also be musical entertainment and face-painting.

Tickets to the event from 10am-2pm, April 2 are $5 for children and $15 for families. Funds raised will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
