Iramoo Primary School pupils beat the winter chills wearing their favourite beanies last week to raise money for Motor Neuron Disease research.

The school held a “mini Big Freeze” event last Tuesday as part of the FightMND fundraising initiative.

Principal Moira Findlay said the event was a fun way to spread the word about MND.

“One of our staff members had two of her family members diagnosed with MND recently and she wanted to find a way to raise money and awareness about the illness,” Ms Findlay said.

“Some of the teachers dressed up in costumes and it was a chance for them to have some fun with a lot of ice.

“The children were hysterical … it was a really good, fun time for the children as well as the teachers.”

Ms Findlay said the school raised close to $1000 on the day and through online donations.
