Staff and students at Truganina South Primary School are doing their bit to help save the planet.
For the past four years, the school has been participating in a program called ResourceSmart, which aims to help Victorian schools embed environmental sustainability across their campus, curriculum and community.
On Friday, the Truganina South school was awarded a fifth and final star from ResourceSmart, for demonstrating leadership in sustainability.
Truganina South has 30 pupils from prep to grade 6, plus a group of teachers, who act as a Green Team to help develop and implement environmentally-friendly ideas at the school.
Children at the school have also taken part in Clean Up Australia Day, National Tree Day, recycling and composting programs, vegetable gardening, water conservation, energy saving competitions and Kids Teaching Kids events.
