Australian Border Force officers have uncovered a clandestine steroid manufacturing laboratory at a Point Cook home.
The investigation began in May, when Border Force officers detected a pill press machine labelled as a “stamping machine sample” in an air cargo consignment which arrived in Sydney from Hong Kong.
Further investigations linked the consignment to addresses within Victoria, and earlier this month Border Force officers executed search warrants at properties in Point Cook and Vermont.
The Victoria Police Clandestine Laboratory team attended the Point Cook residential property and declared it to be a steroid manufacturing lab.
A number of substances were found at the premises including gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL), 2C-B and MDMA.
ABF Investigations Commander Graeme Grosse said the “dangerous chemicals” were  “usually manufactured by criminals in unsafe and unhygienic conditions”.
