It wouldn’t be Christmas in Werribee if you didn’t hear the sounds of sirens and a merry ’Ho Ho Ho’.
One of Wyndham’s Christmas traditions will take place again this year, with the Werribee Fire Brigade running its Christmas eve lolly drop on 24 December.
This year brigade trucks will be visiting local parks and playgrounds to bring Christmas cheer to all in the community.
Father Christmas will be with the fire trucks to hand out lollies and receive last minute orders from children on what they want for Christmas.
Families wanting to know when they should expect Santa and the firefighters to come down their street, are encouraged to check the Werribee Fire Brigade’s Facebook page for updates.
Long-time volunteer Darryl Wells said it is a tradition that has been going on for decades and is a great chance for emergency services and the community to revel in the good cheer of Christmas.
“We have been doing it for about 35 or 40 years and it gets a good reaction from the fire brigade within the community but also gives a lot smaller kids and families the chance to speak with Father Christmas,” Mr Wells said.
“It is the interaction between the kids and Father Christmas that gives good vibes in the community.”
