The Point Cook centre has launched the 10 for 10 program, which aims to get children aged from five to 16 involved in tenpin bowling.

The 10-week program teaches youngsters bowling skills and the fundamentals of the game, while increasing their co-ordination, balance, socialisation and team work skills.

Tenpin Bowling Australia accredited coach Nathan Jenner delivers the program at WYNCITY in partnership with a team of coaches and assistants.

WYNCITY bowl and attractions manager Fiona Jenner said the centre first hosted the 10 for 10 program in July last year, when 48 children and teenagers registered to participate.

This year, more than 60 young people have registered for the program.

“Because this program brings kids of all ages, abilities and fitness levels together to compete and achieve at a high level, it highlights the ‘I can do it’ attitude for all participants,” Ms Jenner said.

“Kids don’t have to be super athletes to achieve success in the sport of tenpin bowling.”

At the end of the 10-week program, each child is presented with a bowling ball.

Participants choose the colour of the ball and coaches advise them on a ball weight.

The ball is custom drilled to fit each child’s hand span.

Youngsters who compete in the 10 for 10 program can progress into a bumper or junior league.

The WYNCITY Bowl and Entertainment Centre is at 36 Wallace Avenue, Point Cook.
