Cherry Street level crossing re-opened

Peak-hour traffic chaos has been avoided and the Cherry Street level crossing is up and running again.

The boom gates went down at the level crossing about 2.30pm due to a track equipment fault, shutting down the intersection and causing delays along the Werribee line between Laverton and Werribee train stations of up to 30 minutes.

A Metro Trains spokesman said delays on the Werribee line were now down to five minutes.
