Wyndham council announce our new Pop-Up Library Van is officially on the road and visiting a range of locations across the municipality.
The van set off today from Saltwater Community Centre and Wyndham’s deputy mayor Jasmine Hill said the pop-up library would be a wonderful addition to the city’s library services.
“Council is bringing the Library to the community through our Pop-Up Library Van, addressing service gaps in Wyndham,” she said.
“The Pop-Up Library van will visit locations across Wyndham, delivering free Library services, programs and offering a small collection of books to browse and borrow and high speed WIFI.”
Cr Hill said the Pop-Up Library Van would be rostered to visit different locations, four days a week during business hours with two staff members working on board.
“Our community told us they want to access library services in their local area and the new Pop-Up Library Van will make it easier for residents in new and developing areas to access library services through the Pop-Up Library Van visiting their location,” she said.
Council said it appreciates the state government’s $97,428 contribution through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program. An additional $101,747 was contributed by council to help bring the Pop-Up library Van to completion.
Wyndham Libraries successfully applied for the grant last year, and purchased a Mercedes Sprinter van that has now been converted into the Pop-Up Library Van.
