CFA lets the mo grow for Movember

A band of Werribee volunteer firefighters have ditched their razors and let their facial hair do the talking for Movember.

About 12 members of Werribee CFA have cultivated their finest moustaches and beards for the annual men’s health fundraiser.

The team has raised more than $2250 in its first attempt.

Rohan Rizzoli, who is leading the charge, said the hairy idea had quickly gained momentum.

“A few of us were having a chat over a beer one day and thought it would be a good idea to get on board, and it kind of blossomed from there,” he said.

“There’s no real [fundraising] target – it’s more about spreading awareness.

“It’s just grown bigger and bigger … there’s been no real plan about how it’s going to go, but I think it’s worked pretty well.

“I think next year is going to be even bigger and better.

“I’d say the captain [Michael Wells] has gone all out – his mo is bigger than everyone else. But I think he got a head start by a couple of days. Mine’s pretty average.”
