The latest census data provides further analysis of how the people living in Wyndham travel and work.
Compiled by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the information details a snapshot of the community based off of responses to a national survey conducted in 2021.
The number of Wyndham residents working more than forty hours a week decreased from 42 per cent in 2016, to 24.2 per cent in 2021.
The average time worked was 35-39 hours in 2021, with a slight increase from 23.5 per cent in 2016 to 25.2 per cent in 2021.
The amount of residents driving to work declined from 63.7 per cent, to 50.8.
Census data for 2021 also included a ‘Worked at home’ option, account for 25.3 per cent of responses.
Four percent of Wyndham residents are currently employed as Computer System Design and Related Services, the top response in the 2021 industry of employment category.
The most common answer in 2016 was Road Freight Transport, which recorded a slight decrease in 2021, from 3.0 to 2.8 per cent.
Australian Statistician Dr David Gruen said the 2021 Census showed a rise in work and study in emerging fields of technology across the state.
“There are over 260,000 ICT Professionals and 74,000 ICT Managers in the workforce, an additional 86,000 since the last Census,” he said.
