The Werribee Rotary Club has celebrated its 50th anniversary with a night of fun, fellowship and nostalgia.

The club hosted its anniversary event at the Werribee Racecourse Function Centre on August 18.

Charter members of the club, Tino Ballan and Ian Knight, told guests about the club’s formation.

“I’m really glad that Ian asked me to be a Rotarian because I’m still enjoying it after almost 50 years,” Mr Ballan said.

“Out of great fellowship, companionship and family involvement, the Rotary Club grew the service to the community, because all the members were very involved,” Mr Knight said.

Mr Ballan and Mr Knight were joined by other senior members – Tom Lentini, Jeff Garfield, Peter Ross, Roland Wade and current president Graham Roper – to cut a 50th anniversary cake.
