TOMRA Cleanaway’s new CDS network depot in Point Cook opened on Wednesday, August 21.
Located at 2/6 Wallace Avenue, the facility will be operated by Recycle4Change, a charity that is part of the Chance Creators Group and provides employment and support for individuals who have experience with
the justice system.
The site is designed to process large commercial quantities of eligible drink containers quickly and efficiently. The onsite technology processes up to 100 containers per minute, making it suitable for sporting groups, hospitality venues and school clean-ups.
Member for Point Cook Mathew Hilakari and Wyndham mayor Jennie Barrera attended to officially welcome the venture.
CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway James Dorney initiated the partnerships and commented.
“Our partnerships with charity and not-for-profit organisations like Recycle4Change in Point Cook, have created dozens of new jobs across the West Zone for individuals that have historically faced barriers to employment.”
Director of the Chance Creators Group Rob Brown also spoke about the partnership.
“The opportunity would not have been possible without the efforts of the Victoria’s Container Deposit
Scheme, our partners TOMRA Cleanaway and Wyndham City Council.”
The new depot intends to make large deposits more convenient for Point Cook residents.
The CDS Vic Depot Point Cook is open Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
