A historic residence in Werribee, which features a fountain and artistic mural in the garden, is up for sale.
The home, located at 2 College Road, is being sold through YPA Wyndham City in Werribee.
Property consultant James Christou said the heritage-listed abode was built in 1930 by the Carter family.
The Carters, who ran poultry farms in Werribee, constructed about 66 red brick and cream brick-veneer dwellings for their employees in Werribee, which are now known as the Carter Cottages.
Mr Christou, who also sold a Carter Cottage at 22 College Road last year, said houses and units on the street were incredibly popular among buyers because they are in the zone of two nearby secondary schools.
“We always find anything south-side, which is what we call that area of Werribee with the MacKillop College and Werribee Secondary College zone – as soon as something in that zone goes online, you always get a lot of inquiries,” he said.
Mr Christou said inquiries from potential buyers about the cottage have come from Wyndham residents, along with people living interstate and overseas.
“It’s set up with three individual bedrooms and bathrooms, so it’s perfect for someone who would like to run a bed and breakfast,” he said.
The property’s large backyard has multiple garden and storage sheds, a shared outdoor entertaining area and a fountain featuring a sculpture of a woman at its centre.
“The yard is very stunning with a very beautiful water feature, a tall and old tree and lots of space,” Me Christou said.
Painted on an outdoor wall is a mural, designed to look like an optical illusion with a statue, blue skies, trees and a walkway.
The home will be sold at a forthcoming auction, for which a date is yet to be set, with an asking price range of between $599,000 to $649,000.
Because the dwelling is heritage-listed, some of its outdoor features cannot be changed.
