A Wyndham Vale teen is on the way to fulfilling his dancing dreams.

Cameron Lowery will play the title role of Peter Pan in the Melbourne City Youth Ballet production that will run for two nights at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds from this Saturday.

The 16-year-old has been dancing for the past five years, starting with hip-hop before focusing on ballet.

He’s been in various ballet productions, including Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella, but said Peter Pan was a chance to take on a big role.

“I’ve always had the dream of being presented on stage as a big character,” he said.

The teen said after years of dancing, he no longer got stage fright before a performance.

“I used to, but now I don’t really get as nervous because I’m confident in my ability to perform,” he said.

Artistic director Yuiko Masukawa said Peter Pan was the second production for the year for the youth ballet company.

“This is fantastic, as it means that not only are people being exposed to great talent and enjoying the arts, but the next generation of dancers are also being supported by their local community,” she said.
