Wyndham’s young achievers are proof you’re never too young to make a difference.
Wyndham Youth Committee is keen to highlight the accomplishments of young people through its OneWyndham program – and is calling on locals to nominate youths making waves.
Wyndham council learning city portfolio holder Josh Gilligan said the program, which has already shared the success stories of Nayomi Whiripo, who distributes food and clothing packages to the homeless, and James Kots, co-founder of the Wyndham Youth United Soccer Team.
“OneWyndham is proving to be a successful tool in recognising the talent and drive we have amongst our young people,” Cr Gilligan said.
Tarneit’s Kai Seymon is another OneWyndham nominee.
The 12-year-old, who is on the autism spectrum, is dyslexic and has anxiety, started his own business Kaiko Fidgets which designs and sells fidgets and other sensory items. In September, he received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Mum Joanne said the business had helped turn Kai’s life around.
“Up until this, nearly every day he told me he didn’t want to live,” she said.
