It’s not every day you get painted from head to toe and do a photo shoot at the Flinders Street station ballroom.

Werribee’s Neda Ivic did just that recently when she posed for the 2017 SoBrave breast cancer fundraiser calendar, which will raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Ms Ivic was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in 2008 when she was 36 and had just given birth to her third child.

“I didn’t know what to think or say. My whole body went numb,” she recalls.

“Luckily, I had a friend with me who did all the talking and asking questions.”

Ms Ivic had a lumpectomy of the left breast, an axillary clearance surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and tamoxifen before getting the all-clear.

Recently she came across an ad on social media calling out for breast cancer survivors to pose for the SoBrave calendar, and she put her hand up.

She said it was a great way to raise money and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

“Breast cancer, or any type of cancer, can happen to anyone of us, any age or gender. Early detection is so vital.

“I believe and hope that one day a cure will be available to safe many lives and so my daughter never has to fear this disease.

“It was fun [to do the photo shoot],” she said.

“The Flinders Street ballroom is a place that’s not open to the public. It was really amazing to be there.

“It’s definitely something to tick off the bucket list.”
