Young Point Cook entrepreneur Maddi wants to donate a quarter of her profits to charity.

Maddi, who will celebrate her 12th birthday today, started her businesses Beaded Friendship, selling handmade jewellery online, about three-and-a-half weeks ago.

She said the idea behind her business was for youngsters, who are not able to see their friends during the pandemic, to send each other jewellery.

She also wanted to help children who were not coping well during the pandemic.

“I want to give a quarter of my profits to Kids Helpline, to help the community,” she said.

Business is booming for Maddi, who received her 50th order from a customer last week.

Maddi said her mother, Melanie, has been a big help in establishing Beaded Friendship.

As part of setting up her business, Maddi has started a Shopify website, calculated costs and come up with a marketing strategy.

“I really love to see everybody writing positive comments on Facebook and Instagram, making the jewellery and seeing how many orders I’ve received,” Maddi said.

Maddi thanked the Wyndham businesses which have also supported her business venture, including one which has donated beading materials.

She said that doing home-schooling means she has quite a bit of time to devote to Beaded Friendship, although she is doing extra tutoring outside of school classes, as she hopes to become a vet in the future.
